iPhone 8, 8 Plus & X user at WWDC? You are unlikely to receive iOS 17
Check to see if your phone is on the list here. Apple will stop providing new software support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.
Today, June 5, is the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where the company will present its most recent operating systems for various devices. Among the most eagerly awaited announcements is the iOS 17 update, the most current version of the iPhone OS. Not all iPhone models will be able to receive the update.
According to a MacRumors report, Apple will stop providing software support for some devices, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Additionally, the iPadOS 17 update might be available for something other than the iPad Pro 9.7-inch iPad Pro 12.9-inch, or fifth-generation iPad.
This choice is consistent with Apple's announcement from the previous year, which stated that specific devices would no longer receive significant updates. This list included the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, first-generation iPhone SE, last-generation iPod touch, second-generation iPad Air, and fourth-generation iPad mini.
Older iPhones and iPads can no longer receive updates because of outdated hardware, preventing them from working with the newest iOS versions. These devices need new hardware and chips to run the most recent iOS. Apple will release a fresh update for these devices later.
To fully experience the newest features and security updates, users should update their devices or consider upgrading to the most recent generation.
iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max will all be compatible with iOS 17 once the new operating system is released.
In order to comply with European regulations, the upcoming iOS 17 will add a number of new features, including support for side loading apps and third-party app stores. It is also said that enhanced CarPlay will support multiple displays and widgets. The update will prioritize stability and efficiency while introducing new privacy-focused features and minor changes to the lock screen and Control Centre.
