Apple has released iOS 16.5 for download. What's new?

The most recent operating system update for the iPhone includes a sports section in Apple News as well as a new way to celebrate Pride Month in June.

Apple's iOS 16.5

Everyone who owns a smartphone can now download iOS 16.5, Apple's most recent iPhone update. The tech behemoth also released comparable software updates for the iPad and Apple Watch. 21 new emoji, including the shaking face, donkey, moose, and jellyfish, were included in iOS 16.4, which Apple released in March. The update also included a new accessibility setting that enables users to automatically dim video when light or strobe effects are detected and notifications for web apps that were added to the home screen.

What features will iOS 16.5 include?

Users of Apple News will have another option for staying up-to-date on sports coverage. The app will have a sports tab for quick access to news, results, and other data for readers' preferred teams and leagues. Additionally, the tab will have cards directing viewers to game pages where they can read more about a particular sporting event.

In honor of Pride Month, iPhone owners will receive a new Pride Celebration wallpaper for their lock screens. A problem with the phone's Spotlight search feature becoming unresponsive was also fixed in one of the updates, as was a problem with the Screen Time feature that caused it to reset or stop syncing with other devices.
Several security updates are included in iOS 16.5, like in previous iOS updates.

How to download iOS 16.5

Users can access the Settings app on their iPhone by going to General, then Software Update. Then, select Download and Install. To be safe, ensure your smartphone is charged and not turned off during the update.

Is iOS 16.5 worth downloading?

The main benefit of updating your iPhone is to get the most recent security patches for your phone.

The Federal Communications Commission stated that updating your smartphone's operating system when advised helps close security holes and enhances your device's general performance.
