In search, Google introduces generative AI.

Google announced that the "Search Generative Experience" feature is starting to roll out today. The feature aims to directly integrate ChatGPT-style generative AI results into your Google search results page. The feature is now available for those selected as early access users from the waitlist and who had been using the mobile apps.

Google's fruitful AI results are displayed in colourful boxes above the standard search results, unlike the typically stark-white Google page with ten blue links. Google will gather a ton of data from various websites and present it in a simple list with links to Best Buy and manufacturer websites for purchasing.
This design has the potential to completely change how Google Search results are displayed if it ever becomes widely adopted. A large row of "Sponsored" shopping ads can be seen in one screenshot of a desktop search for "Bluetooth speakers," after which the fruitful AI results appear in a large blue box about halfway down the first page. The blue box lists several statements and opinions about each speaker that are completely unsourced and summarizes a ton of data gleaned from somewhere. In Google's illustration, users need to be made aware of the source of the information, making it impossible for them to assess its reliability. All the links appear to lead to manufacturer websites, but two or three screens below that blue box, there are finally links to more impartial external websites. The ultimate design objective appears to be "no one will ever click on an external search link again," which would necessitate the closure of numerous websites.
Generative AI results are currently opt-in only. To access it, launch the Google Search app and select the "lab" beaker in the top left corner. The results in ChatGPT style are then included in "Search Labs," which you can use. If this process works like Bard's, you will only be joining a waitlist at that point, and a full release might only occur for a few months. Google stated that the features "will be available for a limited time" when it first announced the concept of "Search Labs."
