The technology will be so advanced that it might drastically change how users behave. He said whoever wins the personal agent will make a significant difference because they will never use a search engine, productivity tool, or Amazon again.

In his remarks on artificial intelligence on Monday at a Goldman Sachs and SV Angel event in San Francisco, Bill Gates said that this yet-to-be-created AI assistant will comprehend a person's needs and habits and assist them in "reading the stuff you don't have time to read."

According to Gates, there is a 50/50 chance that the future AI winner will be a tech juggernaut or a startup.
Gates said, "I'd be disappointed if Microsoft didn't come in there." He continued, "But I'm impressed with a few startups, including Inflection.AI, co-founded by former DeepMind executive Mustafa Suleyman.
According to Gates, it will be some time before this potent future digital agent is ready for widespread use. Companies will continue integrating generative AI technologies like OpenAI's well-liked ChatGPT into their products until then.

As part of his discussion of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's health initiatives, Gates asserted that AI would hasten developments in the field and result in more advanced drug development.
The co-founder of Microsoft thinks that even though scientists still don't fully understand how the human brain functions, we are close to developing effective medications to treat conditions like Alzheimer's, with human trials for the new medications possibly beginning in 10 years.

He also compared the rise of text-generating AI technologies to a game-changer that will impact white-collar workers. Gates continued by saying that he thinks blue-collar workers will also be significantly impacted by future humanoid robots that are less expensive for businesses to use than human employees.
In jest, Gates said, "We just need to make sure they don't get Alzheimer's as we invent these robots."
