Users can edit messages on WhatsApp.

One of WhatsApp's most requested features, the ability to edit messages, has now been made available to users.

The messaging service WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms Inc (META.O), announced on Monday that users could now edit messages they had already sent.

Senders can edit their messages within 15 minutes of sending them once the feature is available globally in the coming weeks.

The feature can be accessed by holding down the message for a long time and selecting "edit" from the drop-down menu. The modified message will be marked as "edited," but the history of edits won't be visible.

Editing messages is already possible in rival apps like Telegram and Signal, and last year, Twitter began rolling out the feature to some users.
